Following a round table staged by netMAGmedia in March 2025 which explored how the commercial sector is approaching water and energy saving to benefit clients and wider water shortage issues, we are again convening a unique mix of specifiers, expert consultants and supply chain to review progress made since the 2025 event.
Delegates at the previous round table agreed that a further meeting would be needed in order to track some of the key moves in this area, such as creating a mandatory product label to drive more water-conscious specification, and reduce use of poor performing products. This meeting will deliver that knowledge sharing, plus exploring how specification of innovative solutions such as appliances can be improved across the commercial sector.
We will follow up on progress against the key recommendations from the 2025 event such as:
- Mandating the Environment Act 9% reduction in commercial water use into levers for commercial clients (for 2038 target)
- Government taking ownership of commercial sector water use and driving it from the top down
- Reporting on commercial sector water use, including carbon impacts
- Financial levers for commercial clients to invest in water saving products
- Mandating the re-use of rainwater in commercial projects
We will also track how smart meter data is being shared in the commercial sector, and whether it’s changing commercial clients’ mindsets on water leaks and water saving. With a lack of water regulation in the commercial space, this meeting is a vital opportunity to discover how the construction sector is collaborating with suppliers and water bodies in order to achieve resilient and cost-effective commercial properties.
