Solutions for Addressing Digital Poverty

Upcoming Round Table 25/06/2025 Venue to be Confirmed

This industry round table will focus on the issue of digital poverty – lack of access to reliable internet services and the devices to enable tenants to fully participate in the digital world – within social housing communities. It will bring professionals together to look at the impact of digital poverty, and explore innovative solutions to bridge the ‘digital divide.’

The panel will look at impacts including limited access to education, employment opportunities, healthcare services, and social connections, and the need to address digital poverty for social equity and economic empowerment reasons. The discussion will examine the underlying barriers to digital inclusion in social housing, such as financial constraints, digital literacy gaps, and infrastructure limitations. Delegates will share insights from research and practical experience, identifying key challenges and opportunities for intervention.

The panel will explore solutions including broadband access initiatives, digital skills training, device distribution programmes, and community engagement and support.

The discussion will conclude with recommendations for the industry and the government to prioritise digital inclusion in social housing and work together to develop sustainable solutions and build more inclusive communities.
