On 12th March 2025, Building Insights LIVE hosted a timely round table at the Institute of Directors, exploring the impact of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023 on housing management and maintenance.
Prompted by the 2020 death of Awaab Ishak, the Act is seen as the most significant sector reform in over a decade. It empowers the Social Housing Regulator to enforce safety standards and introduces Awaab’s Law, effective October 2025, targeting damp and mould hazards. Panelists discussed the importance of tenant engagement, tech-enabled monitoring, and rebuilding trust, highlighting best practices for delivering healthier, safer homes.
