Water efficiency is becoming an increasingly important consideration in the design, specification and operation of buildings in the commercial sector. As pressure on the UK’s water resources intensifies, alongside increasing sustainability targets, climate resilience challenges and rising operational costs, workplaces, schools, healthcare facilities, retail developments and other commercial buildings play a critical role in reducing water demand.
This is the third Building Insights LIVE round table focusing on this key issue in commercial sector design, and attempting to raise water efficiency up the industry’s list of competing priorities. Bringing designers and specialist consultants together with the water sector and the construction supply chain, we will examine progress on the challenge, and how innovation can be accelerated. Achieving the UK Government’s commitment of a 9% reduction in commercial sector water consumption by 2038, achieving this means sharing knowledge on the drivers that are shaping client decision-making, and the design and procurement strategies that are required to deliver a lower demand future.
Delegates will confront the remaining blockers to progress, but also share practical experience in commercial projects, explore the latest innovations and identify the actions needed from government, industry and the wider supply chain to make water efficiency a standard consideration in every commercial building project. In addition, questions for the panel from our sponsors will add further practical, problem-solving relevance to the discussion.
