Architects need to design buildings for increasingly severe weather events experienced currently, from flood to drought, but also by modelling for future impacts on new builds and retrofits. Helping clients reduce their vulnerability to risk of costly and dangerous effects of climate change, while also mitigating effects on occupants internally, such as overheating, is a core responsibility of designers in the 21st century. The webinar will explore key design approaches, which not only protect buildings and the environment, but also help them benefit from resources such as rainwater, in innovative and locally regenerative ways. In addition, strategies for design adaptability will be a focus.
